Chocolate, Cherry and Marzipan Strudel

This chocolatey, cherry and nutty filled filo pastry strudel is the perfect dessert served with either ice-cream or custard!

For the Strudel:

250 g Tinned Black Cherries (halved and drained)
100 g Dr. Oetker Extra Dark 70% Chocolate Chunks
100 g Dr. Oetker Ready to Roll Marzipan (chopped)
50 g Ground Almonds
6 Sheets Filo Pastry
50 g Unsalted butter

Preparation

Step 1: First up, preheat your oven to 200°C/180°C/Gas Mark 6 and line a large baking tray with baking parchment. Drain your cherries and cut in half.

Step 2: Pop your cherries, Chocolate Chunks, Marzipan and ground almonds into a large bowl and mix together. 

Step 3: Lay a sheet of filo onto your lined baking tray, brush with the melted butter and pop another sheet of filo on top. Continue until you have 6 sheets of pastry stacked up. Pour your filling onto the filo pastry, in a line toward one side of the pastry sheet. Fold the pastry over the filling and roll so the pastry is wrapped around the filling, and the seam is on the base of the strudel. Brush the remaining butter over the strudel and tuck the ends of the strudel in to stop the filling oozing out.

Step 4: Bake in the oven for 40-45 minutes until golden in colour. Sprinkle with icing sugar to serve. Your strudel can be served warm or cold and is perfect paired with some ice-cream!
