For alternative flavours replace either of the fruits with the same quantities of sultanas or chopped dried apricots. Add 5ml (1 tsp) ground cinnamon or ground mixed spice for a mild festive flavour.

For a chocolatey cake, replace the glace cherries with 100g pack Dr. Oetker Dark Chocolate Chips.
